It is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.JOB SUMMARYThe MAdS Laboratory in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join their team, starting in September 2024. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of biochemistry and microbiology. The appointment is for one year and may be extended, depending on funding and performance.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIESThe researcher will assist the group supervisor in the
  • Design and execution of experiments;
  • Interpretation of experimental results;
  • Preparation of grants and scientific manuscripts; and
  • Mentoring of students and research staff.


Additionally, the researcher will be expected to present their scientific progress in regular group meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have excellent collaboration and organizational skills. They must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, molecular biology, structural biology, or related areas. Previous practical experience with biochemical (e.g., protein purification, immunoblotting, in vitro reconstitution of protein complexes) and microbiological (e.g., cultivation and genetic manipulation of bacteria and fungus) techniques, and structural analysis (e.g., X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy) of proteins is preferred. We strongly encourage candidates who have basic programming experience and those willing to learn programming.

Expected Hiring Range:
$59,423.00 - $83,934.50

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
