Analyst, Data Research Advising

The Data Research Analyst reports to the Director of Academic Advising and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting student and advising data and information in an accurate and timely manner. This includes but is not limited to preparing data and reports to respond to frequent ad hoc requests for Academic Advising and Student Affairs leadership; providing reports and performance analytics for the Academic Advising department in support of key processes; tracking analyzes and recommending interventions for students with metrics indicating a need for advising. The Data Research Analyst will generate reports needed for effective decision-making; mines data from disparate sources to provide a comprehensive informational perspective; identifies patterns and trends that may influence student success.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in MIS or other analysis-based concentration from an accredited college or university; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years' experience in a related professional role
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
The duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Proficiency in use of a personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of the Oracle PeopleSoft Application (CRM)
- Experience developing and producing queries in PeopleSoft
- Skill in collecting, extracting, and manipulating raw data for reporting/presentation purposes
- Skill in using a variety of statistical and database management tools
- Familiarity with the operation of a public institution of higher education
- Knowledge of SQL and Excel
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices related to student success nationally
- Skill in organization benchmarking and development of organization metrics
- Ability to independently plan and organize activities
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, express ideas both verbally and in writing including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, students, and the public
- Ability to analyze problems and users' needs, convert technical concepts to non-technical language, and meet deadlines
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary Information
Administrative Faculty C - The starting salary is $59,186.
