THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE, TN

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Researcher 2 works independently and as part of a large multi-disciplinary team within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position manages and oversees various databases and trains/directs other team members (students, residents, fellows, and research assistants) who contribute to the databases. This position collaborates with team members to make research protocols and design and manage projects that lead to scholarly activity opportunities for students, residents, fellows, and faculty.


Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Designs and oversees an extensive research database using sophisticated statistical software to clean and analyze data.
  2. Provides scientific writing and reporting efforts and makes presentations for conferences and/or professional organizations.
  3. Performs onboarding for learnings and research assistants and maintains workflow timing to meet project deadlines.
  4. Monitors deadlines for submissions and submits materials to the most common OBGYN scientific meetings.
  5. Ensures all research and research team members are consistent with compliance standards.
  6. Research opportunities to apply for grants related to research by the department research teams.
  7. Confers with department researchers to develop plans for projects.
  8. Contributes to department research objectives in collaboration with department trainees and researchers.
  9. Maintains the financial, operational, and personnel aspects of department research projects in collaboration with the Director of Women's Health Research.
  10. Participates in face-to-face and video-conferencing research team meetings.
  11. Collaborates with students, residents, fellows, and faculty on project-related research pursuits.
  12. Assists in providing goals and deadlines for learners and other research staff.
  13. Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Master's Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of relevant experience; OR Bachelor's Degree and four (4) years of relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Advanced knowledge of epidemiological research design and methods of analysis in the research field.
  • Skill in designing and managing an extensive research database.
  • Advanced skills and techniques of compilation and analysis of complex research data.
  • Excellent organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to interpret results and translate results into abstracts and publications for submission to meetings and journals.
  • Ability to create manuscripts from data and documents for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at local, regional, and national conferences.
  • Ability to train and supervise research novices.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends. May require occasional overnight travel.
